About Me

Picture
Welcome to my practice!

Let's begin with a summary of my education and training. I have been licensed as a Psychologist in Ohio (P.7151) since 2014. A Columbus native, I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Theology from Ohio Dominican University. I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Bowling Green State University. I completed my doctoral psychology internship and post-doctoral fellowship at counseling centers in Illinois and Maine. I then served as a staff psychologist and Assistant Training Director at Ohio University’s Counseling and Psychological Services. During my time at OU, I was the Coordinator of, and a Core Trainer for, an experiential suicide prevention gatekeeper training program. Before starting my private practice in 2019, I worked at a group practice in Columbus.
How do these experiences inform my identity as a psychologist? I am trained as a generalist, and my therapeutic orientation integrates interpersonal, emotion-focused, cognitive-behavioral and acceptance-based, humanistic, and solution-focused approaches. I enjoy working with diverse clients in a variety of services, including individual and couple therapy, and have been fortunate to provide therapy in college and community mental health settings. In the context of a safe and collaborative therapeutic relationship, I help clients discover and utilize what it is that provides them with meaning and purpose, self-worth, resiliency and healthy coping, an understanding of how attachment informs their identity and relational needs, and a plan for personal and relational growth.

While I am competent to treat to a number of presenting concerns, specialized areas of clinical interest include spiritually integrated therapy, couple therapy, and working with other therapists in their own treatment. My research has focused on the intersection among religion/spirituality, sexuality, and intimate relationships. I am Certified as an Emotionally Focused Therapy Couple Therapist (EFCT) and am pursuing additional certification for individual therapy (EFIT). EFT has been groundbreaking in helping me understand and treat both couples and individuals. In nearly all of my work with individual and couples, I talk regularly about self-worth as well as the influence of and need for attachment/connection.
One of the more frequent conversations I have with clients and colleagues is the importance of maintaining balance in life. I try and model the type of balance I advocate for my clients. I value time outside, bonding with family and friends, and developing my creative side through decorating, DIY projects, and baking.

I look forward to hearing your narrative.
